ShipLogix Introduces STEP Version 5.0
Enhanced Functionality Produces Rapid Results
June 29th, 2004 - Seattle, Wa. ShipLogix,
an industry leader in providing on-demand transportation management
solutions for shippers, carriers and their business partners, announces
the release of ShipLogix Transportation
Execution Platform (STEP) version 5.0. The latest version of
STEP includes new and enhanced functionality and, along with ShipLogix'
fast implementation, produces rapid return
on investment dollars.
"We've responded to the increasing demand for transportation management
tools that improve efficiencies and quickly reduce costs throughout
the supply chain," remarked Alan Van Boven, CEO of ShipLogix. "By
incorporating Vendor Load Builder,
enhanced load and route optimization, and freight audit and settlement
technology into STEP version 5.0, we've expanded our ability to
supply a Web-hosted solution to virtually any industry, including
retail."
STEP 5.0's Vendor Load Builder is an order collaboration tool that gives the buyer or control
party earlier upstream order visibility and provides routing control cost savings opportunities.
The web-based interface captures order readiness and shipment detail and also allows vendors to
release orders at the line-item level, when the shippable order is first created and built.
"Our Vendor Load Builder allows users to plan warehouse operations
and transportation much earlier in the shipment
lifecycle and reduce costs associated with inefficient purchasing
and order fulfillment," explained Lloyd Sanford, VP of Sales and
Marketing. "The interface enables vendors to transmit changes in
shipment dates, quantities, released orders and routing changes
directly to STEP, providing buyers with real-time visibility throughout
the shipment process."
ShipLogix refactored its optimization interface in STEP 5.0 to concurrently manage multiple
optimization engines, which increases the speed and handling capacity of carrier communications.
Shippable orders are imported into STEP and then submitted as optimization candidates. Users can
realize significant cost savings (10-20%) through efficient aggregation of individual shipments,
multi-route pick up and deliveries, and automated selection of lowest-cost modes and carriers.
Optimization planning enables companies to easily analyze their transportation options and
negotiate lowest possible rates with carriers.
STEP 5.0 also features improved Freight Audit and Settlement Technology
(FAST). ShipLogix clients can utilize automated match-pay and self-invoicing
procedures, whereby carrier invoices are matched to audit quality
rated shipments and approved for payment. Clients can leverage guaranteed
payment terms to negotiate lower freight rates, as well as reduce
or eliminate costly third-party accounting audits. Freight Audit
and Settlement information can be used to generate financial reports
that open up planning capacity to always ensure lowest-cost mode
and carrier selection.
STEP 5.0 was recently successfully deployed with a $7 billion retail distribution enterprise with
7,000 active vendors and 1,000 shipments per day. The improved optimization capability has already
produced a 30% reduction in freight expenditures. Likewise, Cognis Corporation, a $3 billion specialty
chemical manufacturer with seven U.S. plants reported 172% ROI as well as a 10.4% reduction in
freight dollar expenditures.
